Goonie was raring to go when we awoke at the North County Recreation center!
He and Ruth gave us a show as they played around.
My mess of stuff! No worries about spreading out there. Also, plenty of juice as in electricity to get all our gear fortified.
It's the Heidi¨ Show!
Raja was doing a little FaceTime, and we were all watching (including Ryan and his camera!).
Which way to go?
Wait everyone! Let's be safe. : )
The path went parallel to the California's highway 1.
Still plenty of flowers around!
Ahhh, a Castorville artichoke said, "Adios! Safe travels!"
Talk story time with some bikers; this one lady knew a little sign!
This woman who worked at the fruit stand was so very, very nice, that I gave her one of Kat's beads! : )
Artichoke country! : )
In case you'd forgotten which way we've been going. ;~)
Conferring with her iBuck . . .
"Oops! Wrong way!"
We turned around and crossed back to the fruit stand.
"It's THIS way!" signed Gina.
No highway! Awesome.
Thought this might interest you, Dwight.
And this too, Dwight. : )
Those train tracks were still there . . . alas, haven't seen nary a train . . . yet!
Cool BIG mailbox.
More train evidence . . .
Dole . . . not in Hawaii anymore . . . or?
Gina. She was always one step ahead of us. Really good volunteer work she did! Mahalo Gina!!! : )
We walked . . .
and walked . . .
Saw some weird trees along the way.
Gina again! This time it's lunch for day 12. : ) To the right for rest rooms at a library, left for lunch.
"Railroad tracks are romantic," says me.
dyllic Lunch Stop #5,042(R)
And then we were back at it . . .
15-miles takes a while . . . the distance to LA is slowly getting shorter though.
This part went on for a while.
See the flowers?
Flowers, signs, walkers . . . that's all we saw for several miles.
Breaktime on Day 12! By now there were only 5 of us walking.
There's the rest of the gang!
Nancy and I decided to celebrate this pleasant Mother's Day with an ice cream. : )
It was delish! And yes, Jan, Baskin Robbins IS good. She and I worked at one while in high school.
These kids were (obviously) very cute! AND curious. : )
We chatted as in passing notes back and forth. Then they each got a . . .
bead from Kat! Thanks Kat!
"For me?" he asked. "I can KEEP it????" He was so tickled, Kat. Mahalo for sharing your glass beads!
Around 4 p.m. Nancy and I drug ourselves into the fairgrounds of Monterey.
"Ahhhh. Home sweet home . . . for the night!" : )
What? Ryan on camera??? Rachel supplied the backround drums.
And then we went bowling! It was so much fun; I laughed myself silly, literally!
