Breakfast Day 3: Rachel and Chris prepare very healthy food for us.
Joette, she's an extraordinary performer and storyteller!
Oceana HS. The kids were running laps around us, literally. We had fun cheering them as they passed each time.
Start of walking Day 3. We're usually together at the start.
Hi Everyone!
Here we come!
We're all taking pictures . . . and texting, and signing . . . as we walk. : )
Bear or Dog? Do you see the SIZE of it???
It was so nice to be off the highway.
Hugs are given very freely all day long. : )
Some nice person volunteered to take ONE picture; by the time she was finished, her finger was sore!
Bucky was at the top of the stairs, giving us the scoop.
Some more beautiful scenery.
Keep Going!
Accidental shot. : )
Each person lost in their own thoughts . . .
Cliff, coastline shot #5,342.
Far, far past that distant island.
Tricky Section. Karen was a pro coach as she guided us down this bit of steep and crumbly terrain.
Pacifica. They knew we were coming!
Nancy pointing out that tricky section . . .
Taco Bell anyone? We declined.
Linda Mar School. Site of our picnic preceded by an unexpected and greatly appreciated nap!
Lunch Day 3. It was a yummy veggie something or other that Rachel fixed for us.
Gina and Thatcher. They served us lunch and have been helping out ever since!
It didn't really look like a typical shade tree, but it did the trick.
Before we set off, we always get instructions about what's next. I understand about 2 to 52% of it. : )
We walked back to the highway and jumped in a car.
We're so lucky to have dogs coming along for the ride. This is Goonie giving Carol some precious one-on-one.
Road construction. There have been some changes since Ryan and Bucky scouted the route last year.
Waiting . . . We walked a bit after the construction only to find MORE construction.
Okay. Here's the deal, Pickle.
Yellow flower beach time. They were waving hello!
California Dreaming. It's still going on . . .
Asphalt candy. The flowers are blooming everywhere!
See? The color may change, but the vibrancy doesn't.
Airport runway time. Hi! See me???
Fishing time. Everything one needs . . .
Cute house time. The flowers are contagious.
Camper truck time. This reminds me of when I was a kid.
Trailers with a view. My dad would call them motorhome. : )
Wild wooden house. Pretty cool
Open roadway. We were all alone.
See the bird?
California Coastal Trail. That's a good thang!
Bob & SJ. Yahoo! We're pau the 13-mile walk for the day!
Popsicle and feet. All were happy to be out of their wrapper.
Heidi. Happy to be finished and taking a break!
Kicking back! The support crew is awesome. They have a camp set up for us wherever we're staying for the night.
Massage time. Cam gives massages now and then.
Showers and Johns. The showers weren't free, but the hot water was welcome!
Half Moon Bay Beach. I don't know if anyone swam, but it was great to look at.
Stairway at sunset time. Something about it pleased my eye.
Goonie. He gets cold, so he'd get wrapped up for the evening.
Dinner time at Half Moon Bay. Who can spot Goonie?
There he is! But where's everyone else?
Sunset at Half Moon Bay. Time to rest for whatever waits ahead . . . Nightie night!
AH…you mentioned….”2%”…I’ve been waiting and wondering how you were dealing with the communication issues.
Well…sometimes it’s easy and clear, and sometimes it’s not. BUT I’m slowly learning, and everyone’s nice. They’ve “turned off their voices,” and I’m learning one sign at a time. ;-) What more can I do? Not dissimilar to when I first started learning French and German.
Sounds deliciously fun! xoxo
Thanks Laurie! So nice to hear from you. Aloha from the cute town of Davenport in Santa Cruz. : )
